LOS ANGELES, CA (Aug. 16, 2021) – As the NFL prepares for a thrilling new season, NFL FLAG, the official flag football league of the NFL, and MOJO, the Webby Award-winning youth sports app, announced a new partnership today to help make coaching easy, stress-free and enjoyable.
With millions of young athletes and families returning to sport this fall, MOJO and NFL FLAG teamed up to create hundreds of high-quality instructional videos for coaches running practices on the field and parents seeking to engage kids with fun activities at home. The premium videos will be showcased in the easy-to-use MOJO app, which helps coaches plan practices at the touch of a button and empowers parents to play with kids at home.
Produced in close collaboration with NFL FLAG’s top coaching experts, the videos demonstrate the most effective flag football drills, games and activities along with each play in the popular NFL FLAG Playbook.
“NFL FLAG is committed to providing the most innovative tools and resources to our athletes, coaches, and fans,” said Izell Reese, executive director of NFL FLAG. “By partnering with MOJO, NFL FLAG coaches across the country will have convenient access to premium instructional videos right on their phone so they can create the best possible experience for their athletes.”
“The MOJO app is a game-changer, making coaching easier and less stressful with great practices at the tap of a button.” said Russell Wilson, chairman of NFL FLAG and MOJO founding partner and investor. “I’ve coached my own kid. We all know it’s not easy. And yet, coaches are so important. A great coach makes all the difference. Great coaches changed my life — and that’s why I got involved with MOJO. I can’t wait for you to see MOJO in action.”
In July, NFL FLAG coaching experts and a team of Emmy-winning MOJO producers created the instructional videos working with NFL FLAG coaching experts and young players on the field at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles (the new $5.5 billion home of the Rams and Chargers). The NFL FLAG coaching team included former Buffalo Bills assistant coach and Team Great Britain linebacker Phoebe Schecter.
“MOJO is honored to partner with NFL FLAG, the leader in flag football in the United States,” said Ben Sherwood, founder and CEO of MOJO and former co-chair of the Disney Media Networks who has coached his two sons over the past 12 years. “Our mission is to make coaching easy, stress free and fun for coaches of every level and for players of every ability and background.”
“In recent years, the popularity of flag football has skyrocketed by some 40 percent,” said Sherwood, “and we believe that our partnership with NFL FLAG will help make flag football even more fun for players and recruiting and retaining coaches even easier for leagues.”
More young athletes currently play flag football than tackle football, according to the Sports & Fitness Industry Association, which has analyzed youth athletic trends for 40 years.
The MOJO app is available on iOS and Android platforms. Follow MOJO on social via Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn.
